From one truck box to another in an abandoned Walmart parking lot (how does a Walmart store become abandoned???) in Medicine Hat. The boys are heading to Glenovan, Saskatchewan and Roan (86X) is heading to the Canadian Western Exhibition. Thank You Calvin and Good Luck Roan!

Our Commitment to Providing High Quality Breeding Stock

When Selecting Our Breeding Stock the following considerations and checks are done at 50 days, weaning (100 days) & maturity (1 year):
- Sire/Dam Lines
- Maternal Traits of the Dam
- Rate of Gain
- Lamb Vigor
- Straight Back, Legs, Feet,Teeth
- Testicles / Teats
(two of each and proper size)
- Body Confirmation / Size
- Hair Coat (We Strive for "AA")
- Scurs / Horns
- Docile Temperament
- Mature Rams may be semen tested
The Katahdin, being a hybrid breed, can have these traits show up inconsistently in different dams & sires. What we continue to strive for is consistency within a hybrid breed. We keep and use only the best of the best so as we don't compromise one trait for the sake of another. All of the characteristics are important and should be available in a well balanced animal, Rams, Ewes and Lambs alike.
AVERY's Katahdins participate in all provincial & federal health programs. Health issues experienced by an animal on our farm will be shared on our blog. We extend full disclosure to all of our buyers of breeding and commercial stock. We will never, sell an animal with undisclosed health issues.

The boys (DJA53W & VJ9004W) have finally arrived. We're at a loss for words, we have been breeding katahdins for a few years now, have been to Ontario a few times looking for good rams, have bought a couple out your way, but I have never seen this quality of animals before in person. All the pictures you have sent us over the past few weeks don't do the boys justice. There size, the bone, the muscle that they are carrying is incredible. I could ramble on here for hours telling you how great the rams are but you already know this.
